The Viavi Solutions (formerly JDSU) OTU-8000E is a rack-mountable optical test unit designed for network operations centres, outside plant maintenance, and in-service fibre monitoring applications. Its modular architecture supports a range of interchangeable test modules, allowing operators to adapt the platform to evolving network requirements without replacing the base unit.

The OTAU 1x8 is an automated optical switch accessory that integrates with the OTU-8000E platform, enabling sequential OTDR testing across up to 8 fibre ports under software control. This significantly reduces the time and manual effort required for routine network characterisation, acceptance testing, and fault localisation across multi-fibre installations.
