The Viavi (formerly JDSU) MTS 6000A V2 is a compact, rugged, and modular mainframe platform designed for field testing of fibre optic networks. The mainframe provides the core platform into which a range of plug-in OTDR and optical test modules can be inserted, allowing technicians to configure the instrument precisely for their application — from basic OTDR testing to advanced optical network characterisation.
The MTS 6000A V2 mainframe includes integrated test functions that are available independently of any inserted module:
Integrated Power Meter: Allows optical power measurements without requiring a separate instrument, supporting routine link loss and power level verification.
Visual Fault Locator (VFL): Enables rapid identification of fibre breaks, bends, and connector faults using a visible red laser source.
Optical Talk Set: Provides hands-free voice communication over the fibre under test, facilitating coordination between technicians at opposite ends of a link.
