The Viavi MTS 4000 V2 is a compact, touch-screen-enabled portable mainframe that accepts a range of plug-in test modules for fibre optic network verification. Paired with the 4138 RMP65 module, it delivers a high-performance singlemode OTDR solution optimised for FTTH, CATV, metro, and PON infrastructure.
The RMP65 module supports single-, dual-, and tri-wavelength OTDR measurement at 1310, 1550, and 1650 nm. The 1650 nm filtered wavelength enables in-service testing on live fibres without interrupting traffic. With up to 43 dB dynamic range, the module can characterise PON splitter ratios up to 1x128. Short pulse optimisation delivers an event dead zone of 0.8 m and an attenuation dead zone of 4 m, making it equally suited to short-haul metro and access network testing.
The integrated CW light source and optical power meter eliminate the need for a separate instrument, while SmartTest and bidirectional OTDR analysis software simplify field workflow with automated pass/fail reporting.
