The Viavi (formerly JDSU) Intelligent Transceiver Programmer, part number INTELLTRANS-PRGMR, is a bench-top hardware tool designed for programming and reading the EEPROM memory of SFP and SFP+ optical transceiver modules. It connects to a host PC via a standard USB Type-B interface and provides an SFP/SFP+ module socket for direct transceiver insertion.

The unit features three front-panel LED status indicators — TxFault (red), RxLOS (red), and PWR (green) — allowing the user to monitor transceiver status in real time during programming operations. It is used in conjunction with Viavi-compatible transceiver management or programming software to read, modify, and write EEPROM data fields such as vendor name, part number, serial number, wavelength, and diagnostic monitoring (DDM/DOM) parameters on SFP/SFP+ modules.
