The E98RKWDM1650LCUPC is a rack-mounted (1U) passive WDM module providing 32 ports operating at 1650 nm with LC/UPC fibre connectors. It is part of the Viavi passive component range designed for in-service fibre monitoring in conjunction with ONMSi, OTU-8000, and OTU-5000 optical test platforms.

Passive components in this range enable testing of fibres carrying live traffic by inserting an out-of-band wavelength (1625 nm or 1650 nm) via a wavelength division multiplexer (WDM). The OTDR signal is combined with the data signal at one end; at the far end, an optional filter blocks the OTDR signal if the transmission equipment does not provide sufficient isolation. A bypass option can extend the OTDR signal across adjacent spans, increasing monitoring distance and reducing the need for additional Optical Test Units.
