VIAVI Passive Component Modules — For In-Service Fibre Monitoring

The VIAVI E98LGX1BP162SA is part of VIAVI's Passive Component Modules range, designed for in-service fibre monitoring with ONMSi, OTU-8000, and OTU-5000 systems. These passive components enable testing of fibres bearing live traffic using an OTDR by inserting an out-of-band wavelength at 1625 nm.

The 1625 nm bypass function allows the OTDR signal to be extended to an adjacent fibre span when the OTDR measurement range covers more than one span. This avoids the need to deploy an additional Optical Test Unit (OTU-8000 or OTU-5000), reducing infrastructure cost and complexity.

The module is housed in a standard LGX form factor, fitting into VIAVI's compatible 1RU, 2RU, or 4RU rack-mount shelves. One LGX mounting plate can house up to 3 LGX boxes, available for 19", 21", or 23" racks.
