The VIAVI C5TEM-R is a field-optimised Timing Expansion Module for the T-BERD/MTS-5800 handheld network tester, designed for precise timing and synchronisation measurements in telecoms network deployment and maintenance.

The C5TEM-R features a 72-channel multi-constellation GNSS receiver and a Rubidium-based miniature atomic clock (MAC) to deliver nanosecond-precise measurements even when operating in holdover without a satellite signal. It enables field engineers to verify PTP/IEEE 1588v2 boundary clock performance, measure PTP PDV, qualify GNSS antenna installations, and perform 1 PPS wander analysis against ITU-T MTIE and TDEV masks. The module attaches directly to the T-BERD/MTS-5800 mainframe and provides dual 1 PPS inputs, a 1 PPS output, a 10 MHz Rubidium-disciplined output, and a 10 MHz reference input — all via gold-plated SMA connectors.
