The Stanmore METS (Modular Endoprosthetic Tumour System) is a modular titanium endoprosthetic system designed by Stanmore Implants Worldwide (now part of Stryker) for the reconstruction of large bone defects, typically following tumour resection or failed arthroplasty. Introduced in 2001, the METS system has since expanded to cover the proximal femur, distal femur, total femur, proximal tibia, proximal humerus, and pelvis.

The METS Distal Femur system was developed from experience gained from more than 1,500 custom-made distal femoral replacements. It uses the SMILES knee, which offers three tibial configurations — rotating hinge polyethylene, rotating hinge metal casing (suitable for extra-articular resection), and a fixed hinge for markedly unstable or deformed knees.

Individual components are connected via precision-made interlocking taper junctions, allowing rapid and reliable intraoperative assembly. Femoral shafts are sized in 15mm increments to match the resected bone site, and a range of collar diameters accommodates varying femoral cross-sections.
