The Nikon Plan Apochromat (PlanAPO) 60x 1.40 Oil is a finite tube-length objective representing the highest class of optical correction available in light microscopy. Plan Apochromat objectives provide full correction for both chromatic (colour) and spherical aberrations across the visible wavelength range, as well as flat-field (plan) correction to ensure sharp focus from the centre to the edge of the image field.

This objective uses oil immersion with a refractive index of 1.51, enabling it to achieve a numerical aperture of 1.40 — one of the highest attainable in modern compound microscopy. The high NA delivers exceptional resolving power, making it highly suitable for sub-cellular imaging, fluorescence microscopy, and differential interference contrast (DIC) applications.

Designed for the 160mm mechanical tube length standard (historically used by Nikon, Olympus, and Zeiss), the objective uses a standard Royal Microscopical Society (RMS) thread mount. It is corrected for use with a 0.17mm coverslip (No. 1.5).

This objective is compatible with older Nikon finite-tube microscopes such as the Optiphot, Labophot, and Microphot series, as well as any RMS-threaded 160mm tube-length microscope body from other manufacturers. It is not interchangeable with infinity-corrected (CFI) objectives.

Returns Policy
