The EXFO FTB-5500B PMD Analyser module is new and sealed, manufactured in 2020. Fitted with an APC (angled physical contact) connector interface (MFD configuration), it is ready for immediate deployment in fibre characterisation and network qualification applications.

The EXFO FTB-5500B is a Polarisation Mode Dispersion (PMD) Analyser module designed for use with the EXFO FTB-500 modular platform. It measures PMD using the internationally recognised interferometric method (IEC- and TIA-approved), offering fast, accurate, and field-proven performance for legacy fibre verification and high-speed network qualification up to and beyond 100 Gbit/s.

The FTB-5500B features a unique cross-correlation technology that eliminates the autocorrelation peak, enabling measurement of PMD values down to 0 ps with no lower limit. It averages PMD over the full source wavelength range without filtering, preserving the full dynamic range for long-span testing. Signals transmitted through EDFAs can be analysed, allowing total link PMD to be calculated across whole network links rather than individual sections — validated through more than 250 cascaded amplifiers over links exceeding 12,000 km. Second-order PMD delay and coefficient values are also provided for precise DWDM fibre characterisation. The ToolBox software suite provides a touchscreen interface with threshold detection, statistical analysis, and report generation in PDF, Excel, or HTML formats. Calibration is traceable to NIST.

Returns Policy

• Return Period: In the event of an item being received which is not as specified, you can return your purchase within 14 days of delivery.
• Condition of Items: Items must be returned unused and in their original packaging.
• Return Method: All returns must be notified in writing to hello@ttinstruments.com, and the email should include the order number, date and reason for return within 14 days of delivery.
• Restocking Fees: A restocking fee of up-to 20% is applicable for items returned for any reason other than not as specified.
• Refund Method: Refunds are processed to the original method of payment within 5 business days of receiving the return.
• Exchanges: We do not offer exchanges. It will either be a replacement or a refund.
