The EXFO FLS-5834A CD/PMD Analyzer Source is a modulated, polarized, broadband fibre-optic source designed specifically for use with the EXFO FTB-5800 Chromatic Dispersion Analyzer and the FTB-5500B PMD Analyzer. It is part of the FLS-5800 series and serves as a high-power SLED (Super Luminescent LED) capable of covering the full C+L optical band in a single output channel, producing a broad, flat spectrum suited to DWDM channel and component testing.

The instrument's high modulation frequency makes it the preferred source for phase-shift-method chromatic dispersion measurements, enabling CD testing through optical amplifiers such as EDFAs with the highest field accuracy. Its high degree of polarization makes it equally effective as a broadband polarized source for polarization mode dispersion (PMD) measurements, including through-EDFA PMD testing.

The FLS-5834A supports remote control via RS-232 and GPIB interfaces and features a front-panel LCD display with adjustable backlight, contrast, and video mode settings.
