A calibration void sticker is visible on the side panel, indicating recalibration will be required before use. The Metron QA-VTM Ventilator Tester, manufactured by Metron AS (Norway), is a dedicated biomedical test instrument for verifying the performance of infant, paediatric, and adult mechanical ventilators (breathing machines). It employs unique Doppler measuring technology (patent pending) and is independent of the gas agent used for testing, including O2, Air, N2O, or mixtures.

The QA-VTM can test high-frequency ventilators with breath rates from 0 to 600 BPM (10 Hz), and supports testing without optional test loads (simulated lungs) or with them, without corrupting results. Parameters measured include breath rate, inspiratory and expiratory timing, I:E ratio, flow rates, tidal volume, and airway pressure. Flow, pressure, and volume measurements can also be made independently. A simultaneous display of multiple parameters (e.g. rate, volume, flow, PEEP) is supported.

For troubleshooting or extended verification, a Trend Test mode allows a ventilator to be run on the QA-VTM for up to 48 hours while recording key ventilation measurements. The unit is compatible with the Ansur QA-VTM test software, which enables remote PC control, creation and storage of unique test sequences per ventilator brand or model, automated test execution, and printing or disk storage of results. Ansur also enables viewing of pressure, volume, and flow waveforms for diagnosing problems or validating a ventilator's own on-screen display.
