The M.A. Ford TuffCut XR Series 177 is a high-performance, 4-flute variable-helix solid-carbide end mill engineered for extreme productivity in CNC milling applications. The unique Heli-Pitch variable helix geometry reduces vibration harmonics at elevated feeds and speeds, promoting continuous, vibration-free cutting regardless of depth of cut or width of cut. The eccentric primary relief angle maintains cutting edge sharpness and strength throughout the tool life, while the whisper blend transition between OD and neck further minimises chatter. The ALtima® (AlTiN) PVD coating — M.A. Ford's original high-performance coating — achieves 3100 HV microhardness and a maximum service temperature of 2012°F (1100°C), allowing tools to be run at higher speeds and feeds across a wide array of materials, including the option of dry cutting. Suitable for slotting at 1× diameter depth and general-purpose milling in steels, stainless steels, high-temperature alloys, hardened steel, titanium, composites, and aluminium alloys.
