The Sharplan (Lumenis) 15201 Defocusing Handpiece Set is an original accessory set manufactured by Sharplan Laser Industries (subsequently part of Lumenis) for use with Sharplan CO2 surgical laser systems. It is designed primarily for oral, pharyngeal, and nasal surgical applications, enabling the delivery of CO2 laser energy via an articulated arm to target tissues in ENT and oral surgery procedures.

Sharplan CO2 laser systems operate at a wavelength of 10,600 nm, which is strongly absorbed by water in soft tissue, enabling precise cutting, vaporisation, and ablation with controlled haemostasis. The defocusing handpiece set allows the surgeon to vary the spot size of the delivered laser beam, enabling both focused incisional and defocused ablative or coagulative modes of operation.
