The Keysight M8061A is a 2:1 multiplexer AXIe module with optional de-emphasis, designed to extend the data rate of the J-BERT M8020A high-performance BERT and the J-BERT N4903B pattern generator. When used with the J-BERT M8020A, the M8061A enables pattern generation and error analysis at up to 32 Gb/s. When paired with the J-BERT N4903B, it extends the data rate up to 28.4 Gb/s. The module occupies two slots in the Keysight M9505A 5-slot AXIe chassis and is controlled via the M8070A/M8070B system software through the J-BERT M8020A user interface over USB.

The M8061A provides adjustable positive and negative multi-tap de-emphasis to emulate transmitter pre-emphasis and de-emphasis, as encountered in real-world high-speed serial links. De-emphasis is essential to compensate for signal degradations caused by PCBs, cables, connectors, and fixtures between the transmitter and receiver under test. The module is fully transparent to all jitter impairments generated by the J-BERT M8020A and N4903B, preserving calibrated jitter injection fidelity at the output.

Front panel connectors include: Electrical Idle In, CLK OUT, CLK IN, AUX CLK IN, DMI IN, CMI IN, two DATA OUT ports, and two DATA IN ports — all with labelled voltage range limits.
