The Keysight RP7983A is a member of the RP7900 Series — a family of single-output, bi-directional, regenerative DC power supplies engineered for high-voltage, high-power automated test applications. It is part of Keysight's HEV/EV Power Converter Test Solutions, providing the confidence to deploy solutions meeting the fast-paced demands of the hybrid and electric vehicle market.

The RP7983A operates in two-quadrant mode, functioning seamlessly as both a DC power source and a regenerative electronic load. Its regenerative capability automatically returns consumed energy cleanly back to the grid — no programming required — saving costs associated with energy consumption and cooling. Anti-islanding protection senses that the grid is live before regenerating power, safeguarding the device under test and operators.

The instrument features an autoranging output characteristic, providing a wider range of usable voltage and current combinations compared to traditional rectangular-characteristic supplies. Battery emulation is supported via programmable internal resistance, enabling simulation of batteries in different charge states. Power transient simulation (step, list, and arbitrary waveform) allows testing of DUT responses to real-world supply conditions.

Up to 20 units can be paralleled for system power up to 600 kW. The RP7983A also features photovoltaic (PV) array simulation capability, enabling verification and optimisation of solar inverter maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithms under simulated environmental conditions.

Returns Policy
