Kaiser RamanRxn1-785 Raman Spectrometer System with Laser Module and Analyser Head, manufactured in 2007. The unit powers on and passes its self-test. The laser has an interlock fault preventing normal operation and could not be fully verified under standard conditions; the unit is therefore sold for parts or not working. No software is included.

The RamanRxn1TM instrument represents Kaiser Optical Systems' flagship analyser for research-grade Raman spectroscopy. Raman spectroscopy provides the chemical specificity of a mid-IR analyser with the ease of sampling of a near-IR analyser. The Raman spectrum contains features ideal for fast qualitative and robust quantitative analyses, often without the need for multivariate techniques. The sharp Raman peaks can often be interpreted in terms of individual chemical moieties, providing insight into the chemistry of a reaction and the extent of reaction progress.

This compact, turn-key system incorporates the laser, spectrograph, and CCD in a single base module. It is based on Kaiser's award-winning f/1.8 axial transmissive spectrograph — a design that is optically efficient and collects more than six times the light of traditional Czerny-Turner designs. Combined with a high-performance 1024 × 256 element CCD detector and Kaiser's proprietary HoloPlexTM grating technology, the RamanRxn1TM delivers fast, simultaneous, full spectral Raman data collection at high spectral resolution.

The spectrograph supports simple grating replacement via pre-aligned modules, giving users flexibility for lower or higher resolution spectroscopy or application-specific gratings. The glass-encapsulated holographic transmission design ensures high optical performance and mechanical robustness.

Fibre-optic sampling accessories include the AirHeadTM for gas-phase monitoring, the MR Probe for in situ liquid or non-contact solid sampling, the MK II for depolarisation ratio studies, a Raman microprobe for mapping and imaging, and an Analytical Sample Compartment for routine QA work. Sample volumes from 5 mL to gallons can be analysed in static or real-time in situ configurations.
