The Viavi MTS 8000E is a modular, portable mainframe platform designed for testing CWDM and DWDM networks and optical components with full-band, high-performance optical spectrum analysis. The OSA-500 series modules represent VIAVI's advanced field-portable spectral test solutions, combining free-space optics technology with full-band measurement capability across 1250–1650 nm to support both CWDM and DWDM network testing at data rates up to 100 Gbps.

The OSA-500R/500RS variants include VIAVI's unique in-band OSNR method (OPS method) to measure the true in-band OSNR in ROADM-based agile optical networks. Internal online wavelength calibration ensures the highest wavelength accuracy with no recalibration required in the field, significantly reducing service costs.
