The Fitel Furukawa S177A is a hand-held core alignment fusion splicer designed for professional fibre optic network deployment, maintenance, and repair in both field and laboratory environments. Its T-shaped body design makes it the most compact and lightweight core alignment splicer in the industry, weighing just 4.85 pounds including battery.

Using active core alignment technology, the S177A precisely aligns the cores of two optical fibres before fusing them with an electric arc, delivering consistently low splice loss across single-mode (SM) and multimode (MM) fibres. An improved heating element design reduces splice-to-heat time by 40 percent compared to previous models, significantly increasing throughput on large-scale fibre rollouts.

The transreflective LCD display ensures clear visibility even in direct sunlight, making it well suited for outdoor field environments. A new graphical user interface (GUI) enhances ease of use, and the built-in battery automatically charges when the unit is connected to AC power — even during active splicing operations.
