The Bio-Rad PX1 PCR Plate Sealer is a semi-automated heat sealing instrument designed for sealing PCR microplates in thermal cycling workflows. It applies heat and pressure to fuse a sealing film or foil to the rims of PCR plate wells, delivering consistent and uniform sealing across the entire plate. The instrument is suited for PCR, qPCR, and Droplet Digital PCR (ddPCR) applications where minimising sample evaporation is critical to data reliability.
The PX1 features an intuitive colour touch-screen interface that displays instrument status, platen temperature, protocol name, set temperature, and sealing time. Up to 12 unique sealing protocols can be stored and recalled, eliminating the need to manually re-enter optimised parameters. The adjustable auto-shutdown feature turns off the heater after a user-defined period of inactivity, improving laboratory safety and energy efficiency.
