The Bio Molecular Systems Mic qPCR Cycler (Model: mic / MIC-4) is the world's first Magnetic Induction Cycler for real-time quantitative PCR. Designed and manufactured in Australia, the Mic uses patented magnetic induction technology for rapid sample heating, combined with fan-forced air cooling in a rotary format, enabling 35 PCR cycles in under 25 minutes and typical full runs in under 40 minutes.

The 4-channel model features independent high-intensity LEDs, photodetectors, and filter sets per channel, acquiring all channels simultaneously with a fixed optical path and no moving optical parts. No optical alignment, calibration, reference dyes, or crosstalk compensation are ever required. High Resolution Melt (HRM) analysis is supported on all four channels.

The spinning aluminium rotor provides unsurpassed well-to-well temperature uniformity during both dynamic and static operations. A thermal sensor embedded directly in the rotor measures tube temperature in real time and does not drift, eliminating the need for recalibration.

Samples are run in 0.1 mL strips of four tubes (48 samples total), with reaction volumes from 5 to 30 µL. Tubes are pre-loaded with high-viscosity silicone oil overlay to prevent evaporation and condensation — eliminating the need for a heated lid or external centrifuge. High-speed centrifugation at the start of each run spins samples down automatically.

Up to 10 Mic instruments can be controlled simultaneously from one PC. Run data is stored on-board and downloaded when connectivity resumes. MIQE-compliant analysis software provides statistical results immediately upon run completion, and data from up to 10 runs (480 samples) can be combined into a single project for analysis.
