The Bio Molecular Systems Mic is the world's first Magnetic Induction Cycler (MIC) for real-time qPCR. Designed and manufactured in Australia, the Mic uses patented magnetic induction technology to achieve rapid heating and fan-forced air cooling, enabling 35 cycles in under 25 minutes and typical runs completed in under 40 minutes. Its unique spinning aluminium rotor ensures unsurpassed temperature uniformity during both dynamic and static operations, eliminating the variability inherent in conventional block-based thermal cyclers.

The Mic MIC-2+HRM is the 2-channel High Resolution Melt configuration, suited to applications including SNP genotyping, mutation screening, allele prevalence determination, DNA fingerprinting, DNA methylation analysis, and species identification. The fixed optical path uses independent high-intensity LEDs and photodiode detectors per channel, acquiring all channels simultaneously with no optical alignment, calibration, reference dyes, or crosstalk compensation required.

The system accommodates 48 samples using 0.1 mL strips of four tubes with pre-loaded oil overlay, eliminating the need for a heated lid. The rotary design centrifuges samples at the start of each run to remove bubbles and prevent condensation. Up to 10 Mic instruments can be operated from a single PC via USB 2.0 or Bluetooth, and up to 10 runs (480 samples total) can be combined into a single analysis dataset. The analysis software is designed to meet MIQE specifications and provides statistical analysis immediately upon run completion.
