The Keysight Technologies 8490D is a family of precision fixed coaxial attenuators with performance specified from DC to 50 GHz. The 8490D-006 is the 6 dB variant of this family.

These attenuators use the 2.4 mm coaxial connector, which exhibits excellent electrical performance from DC to 50 GHz, making them suitable for millimetre-wave applications. Every unit is swept-frequency tested to ensure it meets published specifications across the entire frequency range, and calibration points are provided on a nameplate chart attached to each attenuator.

The 8490D family is assembled and tested with the same meticulous care as the lower-frequency Keysight 8491, 8492, and 8493 attenuator families, using Keysight precision network analysers to verify performance. Typical applications include extending the dynamic range of sensitive power metres, use as calibration standards, signal levelling, and general microwave and millimetre-wave test system integration.
