This AFL Noyes OFI-400 Optical Fiber Identifier is in very good cosmetic condition and has been fully tested and confirmed working.

The unit detects and measures core power levels of optical signals on single-mode fibre without disrupting live traffic. It indicates the presence and direction of traffic, CW signals, and 270, 330, 1000 and 2000 Hz test tones via a backlit LCD display. The unique 2-position optical head accepts 250 µm, 900 µm, ribbon, 2 mm and 3 mm jacketed fibre without the need to swap adapters.

The AFL NOYES OFI-400 Optical Fiber Identifier is a rugged, hand-held instrument designed to detect and measure the core power levels of optical signals on single-mode optical fibre without disconnecting or cutting the fibre. It is used during installation, maintenance, rerouting, or restoration to positively identify fibres prior to cutting and splicing, eliminating the risk of accidental disruption to revenue-generating services.

The OFI-400 uses a macro-bending technique: the unit is clamped onto a gently bent fibre, allowing a small and safe amount of light to escape for analysis without affecting the signal or the integrity of the fibre. The unique 2-position optical head plunger enables use with 250 µm, 900 µm, ribbon, 2 mm and 3 mm jacketed fibre — no adapters to purchase, store or swap. The backlit LCD displays signal status (No Signal / Tone / Traffic), direction of traffic, and core or relative power in dBm or dB. Multiple tone frequencies (270, 330, 1000 and 2000 Hz) are supported. Additional features include Set Reference, auto power-down, battery gauge and a built-in self-test.
