The Viavi (formerly JDSU) MTS 6000A V2 is a rugged, touch-screen, modular mainframe platform designed for field technicians and network engineers working on fibre optic infrastructure. It accepts a range of plug-in test modules and runs Viavi's field-proven software suite, making it suitable for installation, commissioning, and maintenance of both short-haul and long-haul fibre networks.

The 8126B SM OTDR module delivers high-performance single-mode fibre testing at 1310 nm and 1550 nm with industry-leading dead zone performance, enabling measurement of events very close to the launch connector — critical for testing short fibre spans in access and metro networks.

The Fiber Complete (FCOMP) software option automates the full bi-directional test workflow, calculating bi-directional averaged splice and connector loss, insertion loss (IL), and optical return loss (ORL) from a single measurement session using two instruments positioned at opposite ends of the fibre under test. Results are automatically averaged to eliminate directional bias in accordance with IEC and TIA standards.
