The included Lenovo laptop has the Pylon software installed and ready to go to view samples with the Basler monochrome camera. The camera can either be plugged directly into the laptop via the ethernet port, or into a router/network switch, which the laptop is also connected to. The software should be able to detect the camera on the network within a few seconds. In our setup, the camera was connected directly to the laptop.

Please note that you may need to configure the camera’s IP address using the Pylon IP Configuration software. It is advised that you set the IP address configuration to DHCP only to avoid IP issues. The microscope has already been set to camera mode for immediate use, however this can be changed in the TFT display settings menu if an eyepiece is added at a later stage. This sale does NOT include any eyepieces. Please note actual product may differ as we have multiple units in stock, though all are configured in the same way and cosmetically are the same too. The ZEISS Axio Observer.Z1 is a fully motorised inverted microscope platform designed for demanding multimodal imaging of living and fixed specimens in life science research. It serves as an open imaging platform offering interfaces for technologies ranging from widefield transmitted light to 3D sectioning and super-resolution imaging.

The Z1 stand features fully automated controls including a motorised objective nosepiece, motorised reflector turret (holding up to 6 filter cubes), motorised condenser, and motorised Z-focus drive, all controlled via an integrated TFT touchscreen display. The system supports phase contrast, DIC, brightfield, and epifluorescence contrast modes.

Fluorescence illumination is provided by an HBO 100 mercury arc lamp (100W), with the option to use HXP 120 or LED light sources. Transmitted light illumination is via a HAL 100 halogen lamphouse. The microscope accepts a wide range of ZEISS infinity-corrected objectives with M27 thread and is compatible with numerous camera systems via C-mount ports on both sides of the frame.

The Axio Observer.Z1 power supply (VP231/VP232) accepts 100–127 V AC or 200–240 V AC ±10%, 50/60 Hz. The HBO 100 power supply accepts 100–240 V AC, 50/60 Hz.
