The Viavi (formerly JDSU) 81162D is a 1625 nm high-power filtered OTDR module designed for in-service testing of live fibre optic networks. It is part of the Viavi 8100 Series of OTDR modules, compatible with the MTS 6000A and MTS 8000 modular test platforms.

Operating at 1625 nm places the measurement wavelength outside the conventional C-band (1530–1565 nm) and L-band (1570–1610 nm) traffic windows, enabling the module to test fibres carrying live traffic without signal interference. The built-in filter further isolates the OTDR signal from in-band traffic, making this module suitable for maintenance, fault localisation, and characterisation of in-service WDM networks.
