The Narda 2244/90.20 is an isotropic broadband electric field (E-field) probe of Type 8, designed for use with the Narda EMR-series radiation meters (EMR-20, EMR-30, EMR-200, EMR-300). It is intended for the measurement of non-ionising electromagnetic fields in occupational safety surveys, EMC/RFI/EMI compliance testing, telecommunications, broadcasting, and industrial RF environments. The probe plugs directly onto the EMR meter mainframe, where it is automatically detected and zeroed.

The isotropically arranged sensor elements are located in the probe head. Three sensor voltages corresponding to the X, Y and Z spatial field components are fed via high-impedance connections down the non-conductive rod into the mainframe instrument, ensuring minimal field distortion during measurement. Due to its true isotropic characteristic, the probe is unaffected by its orientation, greatly simplifying field surveys. Its highly linear frequency response across the full range means it can also serve as a reference receiver. The probe includes built-in overload protection.

Note: The 2244/90.20 (Type 8) is the standard flat-response E-field probe. The closely related Type 8C (2244/90.21) offers a narrower measurement range (0.6–800 V/m) and tighter frequency sensitivity specifications. All probes in the EMR series provide approximately 60 dB of dynamic range without requiring measurement range changes.
