Sell Your Used Test & Measurement or Laboratory Equipment
TT Instruments buys used, surplus, redundant and decommissioned test and measurement equipment and laboratory equipment from businesses across the UK. Whether you have a single instrument or an entire lab to clear, we make the process fast, straightforward and financially rewarding.
Based in Blackburn, Lancashire, we are an ISO 9001:2015 certified UK company with a proven track record of purchasing equipment. We handle everything from collection and logistics to responsible disposal, so you can focus on running your organisation.
We pay fair, upfront prices for equipment in a wide range of conditions, from fully working instruments to faulty, end-of-life or surplus stock. If it has residual value, we want to hear about it. And if it doesn't, we'll still ensure it's recycled responsibly rather than going to landfill.

Frequently Asked Questions
We buy used, surplus and end-of-life test and measurement and laboratory equipment outright. Our team handles the entire process, from valuation and paperwork through to collection and payment. You send us a list or photos of your equipment, we provide a no-obligation offer within 24 to 48 hours, and once agreed we arrange free collection from your site. There's no need to list items online, find multiple buyers, or manage any logistics yourself.
Contact us with details of the equipment you'd like to sell, a spreadsheet list, photos, serial numbers or a written description all work. Our team reviews your submission and responds with a purchase offer, typically within 24 to 48 hours for standard items. For large collections or high-value specialist instruments, we may arrange an on-site visit to assess properly before making an offer. There's no obligation to accept and no charge for the valuation.
Yes. TT Instruments operates under an ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system accredited by UKAS. Equipment we purchase is either resold and given a second life, including to research organisations and businesses in developing countries, or recycled responsibly through compliant channels. We do not send technical equipment to landfill. For organisations with WEEE disposal obligations or internal sustainability reporting requirements, we can provide written confirmation of the disposal route taken.
We do, at our cost. Once a purchase is agreed, TT Instruments arranges and pays for collection from your site. We use trusted couriers for smaller instruments and specialist transport for larger or more fragile equipment. You don't need to package anything beyond making the equipment accessible and safe for our team. For items requiring disconnection or decommissioning, we can advise on what's needed beforehand.
Yes. We buy equipment in a wide range of condition, from fully working instruments to faulty, damaged and non-functional items. End-of-life and surplus equipment often still has residual value for resale into other markets or for parts. We'll give you an honest valuation based on the condition you describe. If something genuinely has no commercial value, we'll tell you clearly rather than waste your time, but in most cases there is still something worth recovering.
Some equipment, particularly high-value analytical instruments, legacy systems or niche specialist items, requires more time to value accurately. In these cases we may ask for additional information such as serial numbers, condition photos or calibration records. For genuinely complex collections we can arrange an on-site visit. We have an experienced team with broad knowledge across test, measurement and laboratory equipment and we'll always aim to give you a fair market valuation rather than a low-ball offer based on uncertainty.
Yes, bulk and full clearance purchases are something we handle regularly. If you have a large volume of equipment and need it cleared quickly, we can arrange an on-site visit, assess everything, and provide a single consolidated offer for the lot. We work to your timetable and can often arrange collection within a few days of agreement. This is popular with businesses relocating, downsizing, closing facilities, or clearing inherited equipment from a site acquisition
We actively purchase test and measurement equipment including oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, signal generators, network analysers, power supplies, multimeters and RF equipment. We also buy fibre optic and telecoms test equipment including OTDRs, fusion splicers, optical power meters, CATV and DSL testers, and Ethernet network testers. On the laboratory side we purchase HPLC systems, mass spectrometers, gas chromatographs, centrifuges, microscopes, spectrophotometers, autoclaves, incubators, PCR systems, ULT freezers and much more. Key brands we buy from include Keysight, Tektronix, Rohde and Schwarz, Anritsu, Fluke, EXFO, VIAVI, Fujikura, Thermo Fisher, Waters, Eppendorf, Beckman Coulter and many others.
Absolutely. We regularly purchase mixed lots covering multiple categories in a single transaction. There's no need to separate your test equipment from your laboratory equipment or find different buyers for each type. Send us the full inventory list and we'll provide a single consolidated offer covering everything we're interested in. This makes the process significantly simpler for organisations clearing mixed technical estates.
There is no strict minimum or maximum. We buy single high-value instruments just as readily as we buy entire laboratory or facility clearances. For very low-value individual items we'll be upfront if the economics don't work, but for most used test, measurement and laboratory instruments there is usually enough residual value to make a transaction worthwhile. If you're unsure, just send us the details and we'll tell you honestly what we can offer.
From agreeing a price, UK collections are typically arranged within 48 hours. For larger clearances or equipment requiring special handling it may take a few additional days to coordinate logistics properly. We'll always give you a realistic and specific timeline upfront rather than vague estimates, and we keep you updated throughout. Payment is processed promptly once equipment has been received and inspected at our facility in Blackburn, Lancashire.
